Friday.

The inauguration this weekend is going to be a SHOW.  I walked down the street yesterday afternoon and there’s already concrete barriers ready to go at some of the corners.  I’m pretty much going to be right in the thick of things.  More like TRAPPED in the thick of things.

I just found out that they’re gonna have some sort of free concert on Sunday on the west side.  I’m on the east side.  But they are going to be closing a couple of major bridges leading into the city…the Roosevelt and the Memorial, which are pretty much the two major bridges on the west side.  It’s a lock that it’ll make traffic ugly all around.  I’ve heard that Garth Brooks and Bruce Springsteen are coming.  No names.

Who knows though.  I remember the media was hyping up election day lines too, but it only took me like two seconds to vote.  The media has a history of hyping up things, then only to disappoint.  In this case, it’ll be a blessing.

Anyways, I’m getting the F out of dodge.  Probably heading up to AC on Sunday and not coming back until Wednesday, when the mess is over.  As much as I would like to drink with the inauguration hooligans, I don’t think  it’s the wisest thing to be on lockdown for the next few days.  Homey don’t play that.

I dropped $125 on sportsbetting last weekend.  I took the Giants in the early game, then hurt-ing San Diego in the late game.  Sportsbetting is such a scam.  Anyways, I’m gonna try to get it back this weekend.  Don’t sleep on the mid-day UFC tomorrow.  Yeah, it’s not at night, since it’s in England.  The show starts at 3pm ET.  I just looked at  the lines and Franklin is even money against hendo (-140).  Then, Rua is -400 over Old Man Marc Coleman.  I don’t know, both of these bets don’t look too appealing to me.  If I had to pick one, I’d probably take Hendo over Franklin.  Hendo should be even money at the worst.    He hasn’t looked that good over his last few fights, and Franklin has looked pretty good, but Hendo has more experience than Franklin.  Hendo has fought the best at light heavyweight.  We’ll see.

Legalizing poker cracked the top 10.  Supposedly, Obama sees the list if the idea garners enough attention.  No chance that he actually sees it.  Hah.

From Doyle’s Blog:

“Some clown who produces the, “Blend Celebrity Bucket Listâ€?, put the 100 most likely celebs to die in 2009.  Guess who he had at #16?  That’s right, me.  To start with, I don’t consider myself a celebrity, so I don’t qualify.  But, if I did, I sure don’t have any plans for kicking the bucket anytime soon and surely not in 2009.  He should check on my family genes, both sides lived up into their 90’s.  He should talk to my doctor and get my blood pressure results, my 140 reading on my cholesterol and the raves my cardiologist gives me on my EKG’s.  He said obesity would cause my death.  He should have seen me 5 years ago when I was 130 lbs heavier.  Anyway, he said it was a 10% chance I would die.  I would like to lay 10-1 for any amount if anybody knows this joker.”

Funny.

TechCrunch is starting to become one of my favorite blogs.  Here’s a look into their marketing partners:

I know, I just wrote a bunch of random things.  It’s Friday.  I’m out.

  1. Did you see all those fuckers lobbying for 0.25% transaction tax on sale and purchase (NOT profits) of all securiites, options, futures, etc?

Problem is that large institutions and traders (hedge funds) would probably lobby their way out of paying this tax via some bullshit exemption. Because of this it is possible that this tax could make it into some bill. Meaning that only daytraders would be royally fucked.

Looks like I may have to start learning poker just in case.

  2. What is really scary is that the transaction tax was actually a part of the original TARP bill (the first TARP bill that did not receive enough votes, causing market to tank 700 points). It was buried in the bill.

Imagine, that is how close it got to being passed. With Democrats getting even larger majorities in both house and senate, this fucking thing could pass one of these days.
