Damn, no posts last week. I am slacking big time. Either that or I have less things to talk about these days.
I guess we start with my positions. Well, I ended up selling the last two contracts of my QG at $2.995 two Friday’s ago. Between QG and UNG, I think I ended up breaking even on the trade. What a show because QG went all the way up to $3.8 last week. I can’t win. Or maybe I should say, I don’t know how to win. Regardless, my risk/reward ratio was awful on this trade, as I was down nearly $6k on the trade at the lowest point. I wasn’t too worried, because I was prepared for this one.  Prepared to add more if necessary. Anyways, oh well.
What else did I do? I added some inverse index ETF positions. Call me crazy, but I’m seeing some divergences here. I am prepared to add more if we go higher. I bought 500 shares of QID at $23.51, 500 shares of TWM at $29.45, and short 500 shares of SBUX on Friday at $20.45. Currently, I’m holding:
- 500 shares of QID at $23.51
- 500 shares of TWM at $29.45
- Short 500 shares of SBUX at 20.45
- Short 500 shares of BBY at $37.83
- Long 500 Shares of IBKR at $16.40
- Long 100 Shares of AMZN at $82.99
- Short 11,000 Euros
- Short 7,000 GBP
I was thinking about getting some more AMZN, and entering into a small position of SE (7-Eleven), but I think I’m gonna hold off on this, since I am somewhat bearish near term here. I’m just seeing some bearish divergences here, and of the people that I’ve been talking to, the gurus are raising cash, while the “no-names” are talking stock like they own the markets.
I still have plenty of cash left waiting on the sidelines, so I’m prepared to add some positions in the upcoming days/weeks. Probably gonna be some boring trading over the next few months, meaning my intentions are to buy and hold for weeks. Gonna try not to let these daily fluctuations influence me too much, as I’m focusing on swing trading here and not day trading.
Year-to-date, I’m not even sure how I’m doing. I imagine that I’m just around the breakeven point, as I haven’t done much over the past 9 months. I’ve been paying attention for sure, but I just haven’t done much in terms of entering positions.
Golf. My handicap is at 13.1 now. Doesn’t look like I’ll be at single digit by the end of this season, but I’m gonna work even harder to be a true single digit handicap by next season. I probably put in well over 100 rounds this year already. Pretty sick how much golf I’ve played. Not to mention that I’ve probably lost a few hundos to my buddies cause I’m a choke artist.   Gotta work on my short game though. I should probably finish watching the Mickelson short game dvd. I also just recently bought this book Hank Haney’s Essential of the Swing. So far, it’s pretty much exactly what I’m looking for. He really details his game plan in this book…as far as how he approaches teaching a new golfer. He talks a lot about grip, posture, stance, and swing plane. I have an engineering background, so I like methodical approaches to everything. I need to know where I should be at the quarter-way point in my swing, how it should look, and what happens after that. I need steps, and Hank’s book really details all of this stuff. Pretty good shit.
Watching Giants vs. Cowboys now. I need a couple of TDs from Witten and Barber…
